NATHAN WALKER

Trying to look like David Hockney circa 1982. Making mail art and sending it circa 2009. Nathan Walker is a sculptor making photography, text and actions. His work addresses things as words and texts, organizational systems of arrangement, collage, attention to detail and the anarchive. Butch actions with earthly pleasures like soil, fire and water. D.I.Y action with doors, nails, hammers and stuff. Collage like one thing next to another, not cutting but sticking, not tearing but placing. Careful ephemera and queer appropriations lifted skillless moves. Difficult work, hard work, knotty work. Short work and Short Words. Desk based, paper based and up on me feet/flat on me back. Ebay Polaroids Homemade badges and books. Combining autobiography with cutting the crap, coughing up his feelings with swallowing his pride.

Nathan has shown work at the National Review of Live Art (2007), Manchester International Festival (2007), Proximity Effect at Plymouth Arts Center (2008), Atelier Rafi Gallery Frankfurt. He has recently completed at MA in Performance Writing at Dartington College of Arts and is editor of FLAG magazine, an irregular zine of contemporaneous page works.
